Atrial Fibrillation - Clinical Evidence on benefit of Yoga in reducing new Atrial Fibrillation Episodes

With support from Clinical trial evidence, over the coming years we will see Yoga evolving as a primary treatment for many ailments. A phase 1 study involving 49 patients with paroxysmal AF, it was found those patients practicing BKS Iyengar yoga had a 22% lower rate of new Atrial Fibrillation episodes. Besides, patients also had favorable impact on several other parameters like Anxiety/depression, quality of life scores, resting heart rate and blood pressure. Although not adjudicated, but an improvement in overall health promoted by Yoga, should translate into manifold improvement in morbidity and mortality benefit and this should surpass the benefits offered by targeted treatment.
