Reduced Copays for Generics for low income subgroup for Medicar Enrolles

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission has recommended to lower copays for generics for the the low income Medicare members. The recommendation would raise copays of brand drugs where generic options are available and make the copays free for the generic drugs. The copay for brand drugs would increase from the current $3.3 to $6. The generic efficiency rate in the US is already very high ~ 93%, hence the proposed measure may only be slightly incremental.
