Besins Healthcare seeks to expand its businesses in Brazil

The Belgium-French manufacturer specialized in human hormones has announced that Brazil will be the center of their planned expansion in Latin America, but the company has no plans to open a manufacturing plant in Brazil. Besins Healthcare (BH) is the world leader of micronized progesterone and testosterone market. The company registered sales of approximately 1.1 billion Euros in 2011. The company has an agreement with the national laboratory Farmoquimica, which also distributes BH's products in Brazil.

Two other products: Oestrogel and Utrogestan were submitted for ANVISA market approval. BH not only wants to consolidate its products in Brazil under their brand name but also advance their nutraceuticals segment with sales of BRL 6.5 million. Besins Healthcare planned to expand their business in the BRICS countries in 2007, but the initial idea to market the products in Brazil happened back in 2010.
