Tata Motors October 2014 Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sales in the US disappoint

Jaguar Land Rover  Sales for October 2014 in the US were disappointing.  JLR sales declined 20 percent on a year over year basis. According to JLR the sales decline was primarily because of poor inventory planning. Even sales of  Land Rover which so far has continued to grow declined 15 percent.  Jaguar Sales were just  1007 which is 34 percent down year over year.
The slow  down in JLR sales is all the more disappointing as the automative industry in the US  maintained its strong growth. On a year till date basis, automative sales grew 6.1 percent. The industry added 16.46 new vehicles this year versus 15.38 million vehicles in the corresponding period last year.  In October there  were 1.28 million new cars and trucks in the U.S. Trucks, vans and SUVs accounted for 52% of sales, continuing to outsell cars
